Brownie's Story

Meet Brownie, a brave soul who has endured unimaginable pain. Someone struck him with a sharp object, likely a bolo, leaving a deep wound on his back. The injury was severe, needing immediate attention and sutures to close the wide cut. A concerned local posted about Brownie's condition on Facebook, and thankfully, rescuers from Paws and Claws Sanctuary quickly came to his aid. Brownie was rescued on a Saturday, and the search for urgent veterinary care began. Unfortunately, the clinic of our regular vet was closed, so we rushed around in search of a vet who could help. We reached TLC, a clinic known for once providing round-the-clock care, but the vet on duty could not take on Brownie’s case. While it was disappointing, we understood that the complexity of Brownie’s injury made it challenging. A provincial vet kindly assessed Brownie later that night, but the wound was too severe to stitch up immediately, with a gap too wide to close. We decided to let Brownie rest in the van over...

Rescuing the dog named Hope

It was a regular day at Paws and Claws Sanctuary, and it's rescue time for yet another furry friend called Hope--an inspiring transformation from 'no hope' to 'hopeful'. These are mixed before-and-after images of Hope, the dog strangled with a super-tight collar that has eaten into Hope's flesh and has made a serious wound. This is Hope being handled by the caregivers. Medical attention was urgent because the tight collar had penetrated into the flesh of this pitiful doggie. (ctto: https://www.facebook.com/viennemarie.andaya/reels/) Hope's neck must have been really painful and uncomfortable. How could some people allow this to happen to a loving loyal furry friend like Hope? It's a good thing this doggie ended up with us at Paws and Claws Sanctuary. (ctto: https://www.facebook.com/viennemarie.andaya/reels/) From Vienzky Marie, the rightful owner of the images from Hope's video has written "thank you so much Paws and Claws Sanctuary sa pagbigay ...

Our furry friends at Paws and Claws Sanctuary are enjoying every moment, especially during feeding time! See the joy and contentment of the dogs as they eagerly gather for their meals. It's feels good to see them so happy and well-cared for.  Just another day at Paws and Claws Sanctuary ! Our caretaker prepares for feeding time as the dogs gather around close to the main cottage, eagerly waiting for their bowls to be filled. This peaceful moment shows the care and dedication that goes into making sure every dog feels at home here. The dogs know what's coming! They patiently wait on the feeding stairways, noses in the air and noses down, picking up every scent of their meal. Not one is leaving—everyone knows it’s almost time for their favorite part of the day Some dogs have started eating, each one sticking to their own spot without fuss. It’s clear they know the routine and respect each other’s space during mealtime. Time for more food! Our dogs are incredibly disciplined—they...
Meet Tabby Tabby’s journey is one of resilience and hope, a tale of survival that led him to the safe haven of Paws and Claws Sanctuary. It was Teacher Hannah from Tagbarungis Elementary School in Palawan who reported about Tabby's case. She said Tabby was a gentle dog who often wandered around the school grounds. Despite his unfortunate injury—a severe wound on his head that exposed his skull—Tabby never showed aggression. The stories about how Tabby got his injury vary; some believe he was struck with a bolo, while others think it might have been from a fight. However, the exact cause remains a mystery. This was Tabby when he was rescued in Tagbarungis, Palawan. No one knows exactly where he got such a severe wound.  (Image courtesy of  SPAR Strategic Power for Animal Respondents-Philippines.
